Docketwise and Immigration Copilot: How They Work Together

Docketwise runs the matter: intake, Smart Forms, deadlines and billing. Immigration Copilot writes the EB-1A or O-1 brief and binder. A practical pairing workflow.

Disclosure: Immigration Copilot is our product. Docketwise details come from its homepage, pricing page and 8am IQ feature pages for the document assistant and writing assistant, checked October 21, 2026.

Keep Docketwise. Add a Drafting Tool for the Brief.

Docketwise runs the matter from intake to filing. Immigration Copilot writes the EB-1A or O-1 petition letter from the evidence file, with an exhibit cite on every sentence, and assembles the binder. Neither replaces the other: Docketwise does not generate a 20 to 60 page brief, and Immigration Copilot does no forms, deadlines or billing.

This page is not a "versus." Docketwise, owned by 8am, describes itself as "one connected platform for intake, forms, case management, billing, and payments," and it covers every immigration case type. Immigration Copilot covers one document: the extraordinary ability petition, plus the binder that goes with it. If you file EB-1A or O-1 cases, you need both jobs done.

A Pairing Workflow That Fits a Small Firm

  1. Intake in Docketwise. The lead comes in, the intake questionnaire runs, and the matter opens. Priority dates and deadlines go on the Docketwise calendar from day one.
  2. Evidence collection. The client sends awards, publications, press, recommendation letters and salary records through the Docketwise portal, or uploads directly to their own Immigration Copilot case.
  3. Reading and the criteria map in Immigration Copilot. Each document is classified, dated and tied to the person it describes. A recommender's credentials stay with the letter. The criteria view shows which EB-1A or O-1 criteria are strong and which are thin, before anyone writes.
  4. Back to the client for gaps. Ask for the missing evidence now, while the deadline in Docketwise still has room.
  5. Draft and review in Immigration Copilot. Every sentence carries an exhibit cite; what could not be verified comes back as an open question. Edit in the built-in editor with AI help on any paragraph, then export to Word.
  6. Binder. Assemble the exhibit binder as one PDF with an exhibit list, tab pages and page numbers.
  7. Forms and filing in Docketwise. Prepare the USCIS forms in Smart Forms, attach the petition and binder to the matter, file, invoice.

Two systems, one handoff in each direction. The deadline never leaves Docketwise.

What Docketwise AI Covers, and What It Leaves to You

The 8am IQ Document Assistant reads passports, green cards, EADs and I-94 records and fills Smart Forms and client profiles, which removes a lot of retyping. The 8am IQ Writing Assistant fixes grammar and tone, summarizes case notes and translates between English and Spanish; Docketwise includes it with Pro at no extra cost.

Neither tool is described as writing a petition letter, and neither reads a recommendation letter to decide whose achievements it lists. That gap is the job Immigration Copilot was built for. See what the output looks like in the sample cited petition.

When You Do Not Need Immigration Copilot

If extraordinary ability cases are a handful a year and your team already writes those briefs comfortably, Docketwise alone may be enough. Immigration Copilot pays off when EB-1A and O-1 files arrive regularly, with 30 to 200 documents each, and the review of the brief is where your hours go.

Pricing

Docketwise: Basic $80, Pro $100 and Advanced $120 per user per month billed yearly, or $90, $120 and $140 billed monthly. DocketWise IQ AI starts on Pro. A free trial is offered (pricing page).
